Thom's Mini Review: One of the best mid-range zooms for DX, covers a 24-128mm equivalent field, and does so with aplomb. With the massive megapixels we're getting now in DX, you need a lens at least this good to get the most of those pixels; the cheaper kit lenses can disappoint. It would nice if this lens had a slightly higher quality build or a fixed aperture, but it's still better than anything else in the midrange other than the 17-55mm f/2.8 and 24-120mm f/4 VR (which barely qualifies as mid-range with it's 36mm equivalent starting focal length on DX).
