Nikon Stops Neglecting the Coolpix A

(news)

The Coolpix A got a firmware update to version 1.11. Curiously, it actually has some real performance updates rather than just a bug fix or two, though the modifications are mostly minor in nature:

  • Non-macro autofocus now goes down to 1’ (30cm) from the previous 1’8” (50cm), measured from the front of the lens.
  • Autofocus speed has been improved in scenes with high contrast.
  • The focus area indicator has been changed to white.
  • The camera consumes less power while using the Intervalometer.

The update should be available on all Nikon subsidiary sites as you read this.
